A BIG thank you goes out to our newsletter Editor Jim Lamb who joins Andreas Winston, Co-Editor and Designer, both of whom welcome comments and help from our readership. They are especially appreciative of articles and photos you can submit. It might be a short description of your first time at an autocross or the thrill of moving up a run group in DE. Perhaps you were really blown away by the gorgeous scenery on that wine tour or the fact that you had the Outer Banks almost to yourselves on the last Lighthouse Tour. Don't worry about making your article/blurb perfect. We have Jim and Andreas for that. Jim's goal is to have the bi-monthly newsletter online by the first weekend of each even-numbered month. In order to get it proofread by club officers, he needs articles no later than one week prior to the Friday deadlines. Articles tend to be around 350 words for a half page, and 800 words for a full page, and enough photos of about 3" x 4" at 96 pixels per inch, yielding about 110 KB, to use one photo per half page. (If you don't speak Photoshop, don't worry.) He is currently using Times New Roman Regular 11 point font in the body of the articles. MS Word (any version) and Apple's Pages are common programs for proof reading. A photo of the author is desirable. Use no more than the previously mentioned requirements, and try to use a even toned, contrasting background for a shoulders up shot. Think of your Porsche, just before shutter release :-). It will give you a great facial expression! Jim or Andreas can make the background magically disappear. When Jim attends events, he may take notes. If no one notifies him of the desire to write an article by the end of the following weekend, he may write it himself. Let him know if you are interested in writing something, and if you want, he can pass you his notes. Remember it is your club, and you get out of it what all of you put into it. Jim is looking for some of your personal experiences to share with your club friends. |
