President's 2008 Message

Welcome to the web site for the Hurricane Region of the Porsche Club of America. We offer a variety of opportunities for Porsche owners to get together, be it socially, to increase your knowledge about your car, or for friendly competition throughout the year, from weekly “KoffeeKlatches” to Drivers Education and Autocrosses, Concours to BBQ Runs, and Tech Sessions to Winery Tours, Lighthouse Cruises and Oktoberfest. If you own a Porsche of any model or vintage, you and your family are welcome to come join us and find out how true the PCA motto, “It’s not just the cars, it’s the people” is. Who We Are

Hurricane Region, PCA (HUR, PCA) is part of Zone 3 and covers the Eastern half of North Carolina, from the Triangle Area (Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill) to the coast, and south into Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. As of May 1, we have 470 members. Our bi-monthly newsletter is published here online, and we hold monthly meetings both in the Raleigh and Wilmington areas. It is easy to join our region (and PCA) by contacting our Membership Chair, Fred Grossfeld.

"It's not just the cars..."

We have many people in the club, particularly spouses and significant others, who would like to join us. Great! Just because you may not be car crazy doesn't mean you can't have a lot of fun at our events. Even bring the kids to some of the festivities. They will enjoy themselves. After all, this really should be a family affair! In fact, if you'll look to the right, you'll see a photograph made by one of our eight-year-old kids, Joshua Winston!

In addition, some people have dedicated track cars, negating the possibility of bringing their precious Porsches to this or that non-track event. That's fine. Bring your tow vehicle, your little gas miser, or even your gas guz (cringe) if that's all that's available, and enjoy the company of a great group of people.

Volunteering

Don't laugh; volunteering is one of the best ways to meet and get to know fellow Porschefiles. Volunteering need not be a major commitment. Perhaps you could help with registration at an event. Being part of a team effort in setting up refreshments may be your forte. You might enjoy laying out cones to produce a challenging course for Autocross. Whatever it may be, we can always use more help and lighten the load on everyone. As William Penn wrote centuries ago, "...many hands make light work..."

Don't be shy. Contact any board member found on the Membership page, and he/she will be happy to chat with you.
